With its distinctive shape and warm sound, the alphorn has become a symbol of Swiss tradition and identity.

The alphorn was originally used by shepherds in the Swiss Alps to communicate over long distances. Over time, the alphorn developed into a traditional musical instrument that is played at festive occasions, cultural events and concerts.

The alphorn usually consists of a long, conical wooden tube, which is often made from spruce or fir wood. It can be up to four meters long and features a narrow mouthpiece opening at one end and a wider opening at the other end. The Alphorn's characteristic shape not only gives it a distinctive visual appeal, but also influences its warm and melodic sound.

The sounds of the alphorn are deep and soothing, and they create an atmosphere of calm and connection with nature. The instrument is often used in traditional folk songs and Alpine music, making it an important part of Swiss folk music.
